Hi, I’m Heather (she/they)
I'm based in Boulder, Colorado and offer in-person and virtual therapy throughout Colorado. My approach to individual and couples therapy is a present, attuned relationship, aided by a blend of modalities that promote soul-led healing, nervous system regulation, and empowerment to embrace greater awareness, choice, and freedom.
I am a graduate of Naropa University’s Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling Master’s program in Boulder, as well as Naropa’s Contemplative Buddhist Psychology Bachelor’s program, where I concentrated in Transpersonal and Humanistic Psychology, with a minor in Religious Studies. My journey in the Psychotherapy, Healing, and Advocacy fields spans over ten years of working, volunteering, and ongoing education.
During my Undergraduate career, I began working in Contemplative Alzheimer and Dementia care, Holistic Transitional Living, and volunteered in Boulder County’s Restorative justice program. Driven by a passion for creating meaningful change on personal and global levels, I opened a chapter of Students for Sensible Drug Policy, advocating for the decriminalization of psychedelic substances. After graduation, I began my legal career supporting survivors of domestic violence, later moving into the corporate sector where I expanded my advocacy expertise and earned a Paralegal Certificate from Boston University.
Despite my professional growth, I struggled with overwhelm, empty of meaning and regularly challenged to compromise my values and integrity. I regularly felt into the universal question: How do we/people/I attune to soul’s deep yearning while balancing the demands of daily life, and providing for ourselves and our families?
Yes, we must tend to the mundane, and it can be done without self-sacrifice, but to access our wellspring of self-nourishment and loving discipline takes a shedding of internalized expectations, freeze, and separation from our bodies. On the other side is a life enriched with creativity, exploration, and purpose, but this garden still takes regular tending.
We are alive, which means we are in relationship. My curiosity and inspiration are continuously in progress, but now I have the language for understanding the signals of my body, emotions, and unconscious, and working with them rather than trying to control them. After all, our bodies are designed to help us survive. We just need to help update and refine some of these tools to actually help us in the here and now, rather than keeping us from reaching our goals and dreams.
Outside of my work, I’m committed to continuous growth, pursuing education, training, and supervision to refine my skills as a therapist. I also find joy in traveling, which broadens my perspective, and in creating art and dance, where I connect to my spirit and get to play. At home, I cherish spending time with my guitar-gifted partner, and playing with our rambunctious dog, Hercules, and snuggle-extraordinaire cat, Kevin.
